Q: Do you want to throw like the best throwers in the game?

Hey Friends, Teammates & Mentors,

Of course you want to throw like the best throwers in the game, but what does that really look like?

Ten days ago we had a great weekend walking around the fields at the US Open and Youth Club Championships in Aurora Colorado. Thank you to all the people that spoke with us and threw our latest prototype. Your enthusiasm will energize us for months to come! Watching the games at this tournament, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the level of throwing prowess on display, so it seemed fitting to share our vision of how Disc Sense can help players of all ages and experiences throw like the best.

First, let’s acknowledge we’re not magic, this sensor is a tool not a magic wand. It’s a good tool because it provides insights into throwing that cannot be gleaned from watching players and game tape or from practice alone. It is a tool that measures aspects of a throw that are critical for disc flight. We know spin provides angular momentum and stabilizes the disc, velocity dictates how far we can throw and release angle is vital for navigating the wind. But do we know what is good or bad or where we stand? If not, how do we know where to focus our efforts on improving? That is how Disc Sense can help.

We are benchmarking these metrics for throwers of various abilities and with our sensor you will be able to compare yourself to those benchmarks. With that information in hand, you can focus your efforts on improving the correct portion of your throw and track your progress over time. With that information at your fingertips you can train and improve anywhere you can throw a disc. That is how Disc Sense plans to help everyone be a thrower. To the right is our current app visuals showing an example throw in comparison to the range of data we have collected while developing the sensor. This view and others will allow users to see how they compare to top throwers, peers, teammates, etc.

If that sounds interesting let us know if you’d be interested in joining our upcoming product pilot by filling out this form.

Thanks & Happy Hucking,

Luke and Devin
